Audubon Society to host bird hikes at Mounds SP

The public is invited to join bird hikes at Mounds State Park on the last Sunday of each summer month.

The hikes will be led by experts from the local Robert Cooper Audubon Society, who will be counting the morning birds at the park.

The hikes will last approximately two hours and are open to folks of all skill levels. Activities will begin and end at the Nature Center. Cookies will be served after the hikes.

“The walks are free and open to all ages,” said chapter president Sarah McKillip. “We will have extra binoculars and guides for those without their own.”

Hikes are scheduled for June 29, July 27 and Aug. 31, from 9-11 a.m.

Standard park entrance fees of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle apply.

Mounds State Park (stateparks.IN.gov/2977.htm) is at 4306 Mounds Road, Anderson, 46017.
