Surveys say nearly 250 people fished for the first time at last year’s Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.
So no matter what activities you try for the first time at this year’s event, plenty of other people are likely to be doing the same. Trying outdoor activities is the purpose of the sixth annual Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 20-21.
Parking, entry and all activities are free to participants. The roughly 50 activities include archery, target shooting, mountain biking, paddling, and much more. Participants can bring their own food or purchase food at reasonable prices from on-site vendors. All food vendors will offer credit card payment options.
An estimated 32,000 men, women or children participated last year. Plenty of room awaits in the state park’s spacious 1,700 acres.
The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience is presented by the DNR and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation.
Online advance registration at hoosieroutdoorexperience.IN.gov is requested to assist the presenters and activity providers with staffing and planning. Watch for event updates there or at Facebook.com/HoosierOutdoorExperience.
